I see SB Ontario has outlined very specific championship selection criteria. I wonder if ASUA/SB Alberta has similar criteria.

Fast Pitch Canadian Championship Application Process – revised 2014
An umpire wishing to apply for one of the nine (9) Fast Pitch Canadian Championships must complete the application form in its entirety found in this information package. The complete application must be post-marked by October 1 of the current year.
The nine (9) fast pitch Canadian Championships have been grouped into four pools:
Pool A – U14 Girls, U16 Girls and U16 Boys
Pool B – U18 Boys, U18 Girls and U21 Women
Pool C – U21 Men and Senior Women
Pool D – Senior MenThe following minimum fast pitch pre-requisites apply for each of the four pools:
Pool A – Fully carded Level 3 at the time of the application
Pool B – Fully carded Level 3 with Softball Canada Level 4 theory clinic at the time of the application
Pool C – Fully carded Level 4 from a previous FP Canadian Championship or a softball Canada approved Level 4 provincial tournament (U18 and above) at the time of application
Pool D – Fully carded Level 4. Must have attended two previous FP Canadian Championships (excluding the U14 and U16 categories), Canada Games, Canada Cup (excluding the Futures tournament), or the 3-Nations Challenge at the time of application
All Pools – Umpires must score a minimum of 16/44 in Selection Process to Qualify to attend a Canadian ChampionshipPlease Note: Umpires can be eligible for an appointment in another pool after a one-year waiting period.
