One of our younger umpires told me emphatically how much he enjoys fastball. He like many other players who love the game are confused why men’s fastball has deteriorated.

      He made some good points:
The pitching is much closer so less time for batter to react
The diamonds are smaller so it is harder to make a double play

I’m sure he made more points, but it was a while ago when we had the conversation.

How about you? Why do you think fastball is better than baseball?? Maybe we just need to spread the word!!

        Hello

I’m just very concerned if we don’t give the boys a place to play fastball we will loose them to another sport, ie baseball, soccer, etc. I wish that the CMSA board would of at least come out to a practise and seen the boys before shutting the door on them. My son, Joshua is a prime example of someone who played hardball for several years with Centenial Little League and then quit because it didn’t fit for him and he LOVES fastball. My husband and I are very thankful for YMFL. I am sending you all an invitation to please come to the boys practise tomorrow and reconsider your decision.

The YMFL boys will be practising tomorrow, Sunday, April 12 from 3-5 pm and would appreciate your presence:

        Hope to see you there

I’m a 15 yr. old Fast pitch player and this is my third year with YMFL. I played Baseball for 4 years and hated it. I felt there was no comradery and the game was slow, so as someone with ADHD I hated standing in one spot for so long. At first I was like most hardball players, admittedly I thought fastball was supposed to be an all-girls sport, however after watching my sister play against a boys team I started to develop an interest in the sport. I started watching the higher level players play and I found that no one was standing still, the ball was always moving, and whilst the pitching was slower due to the windmill pitch style(generally 10 mph slower) because the mound and bases were so close(20 feet closer) you needed to react so much faster that it made for a really interesting game. So after more thought I decided to give it a shot and attended one of the practices and I really enjoyed it. The coaching was phenomenal, everyone was kind and you really got a sense of teamwork. I encourage all males (age 10-16) to come try it or at least come out and watch a practice or a game to see how much fun it really is.

Hope we get some new faces soon
          Joshua
