CMSUA Umpires
The 2014 season is drawing to close and I would like to thank each of you for your effort and dedication this year. This season started with one of the most well attended clinics in memory. We had 6 new umpires register which is very encouraging. Along with the 5 new umpires from last season our association is building towards a healthy organization. Most of our new umpires are young and that bodes well for our future.
We provided umpires for 6 minor tournaments and assisted the CSUA with several of their adult events. We continue our very successful relationship with the CSUA without whom we would have much difficulty in providing umpires for the tournaments we host. As well we hosted 3 divisions of minor provincial championships. Several of our umpires worked their first provincials and they represented us very admirably. I believe our training and mentoring program is working well and we will strive to improve on that with your help and feedback.
I’m proud to announce that we now have 2 new level III umpires as Grant Fischer and Charles Baker both had successful evaluations this summer, congratulations gents. You make us proud. We have other umpires who will be eligible to participate in this endeavour next summer. Hopefully you will have the time to attain their level III next year. Reaching the next level is not about the number you put behind your name, it’s about bettering yourself as an official.
Next on our agenda will be our AGM which I encourage you to attend as we have some positions up for election. The date for that will be announced soon. We will be holding our windup get together on October 24 at the Kingsland community centre. It is a pot luck affair and a fine way to end another season. More information will be forthcoming as the date gets closer, see you there.
Again, sincere thank you to each of you.
