Level 1 Certification
The Calgary Minor Softball Association (CMSA) contracts us to cover league games in certain divisions. This typically includes High School Division 1 and 2, U15 Division 1 and 2, and U13 Division 1 as well as tournaments. If you intend to umpire ONLY at any other divisions (ie. U9, U11, or any Division 3 games) you do not need a certification.
Certification allows you to work PAID league games, receive access to mentorship, equipment rentals and other supports throughout the season. Once you have completed the umpire clinic including both theory and mechanics sessions AND have passed the Level 1 Exam, you are eligible to register to be a Level 1 Umpire!
For more information on what happens after the Level 1 Clinic, please the Become an Umpire page.
There is a $75 cost for certification, and more information will be shared at the clinics. This fee covers your insurance, and gives you access to mentorship, our equipment loaning program and additional training throughout the year. You are able to earn up to $50 back on your Level 1 Fees as follows: if you work 6 assigned league or tournament games you can receive a $25 credit. If you work 10 assigned league or tournament games you can receive the full $50 credit. This would be added as a credit to your monthly paycheque.
